During this 6-week course with Olivia, you will learn how to process fiber and spin it into yarn on a drop spindle!

We will learn how to spin yarn by hand and blend fibers to spin into art yarn. We will explore blending batts of many types of fiber such as wool, silk, bamboo, and sparkles. By the end of class, you will have your own yarn samples to knit, crochet or weave! Students will have a chance to spin on spinning wheels. all supplies are included but feel free to bring a spindle, any fiber, and hand carders you may have.

Olivia Hochstadt is a Boston-based knitwear designer, yarn spinner and dyer. She runs K.o.knits which centers around one-of-a-kind knitwear made from yarn Olivia spins and naturally dyes using locally foraged plants. Olivia has apprenticed master fiber artists in Scandinavia and South America as Colby College’s inaugural Global Fellow, and she has shown her work in galleries across Maine and Boston.
