Quilting Curves and Waves

Quilting Curves and Waves
Quilting Curves and Waves will run on Saturday October 10th from 10 am to 2 pm with a half hour lunch and chat break in the middle. Please bring your own lunch.
In this workshop, participants will learn a foundational skill for quilting without rulers: piecing curves and waves. Embracing an improvisational style, we will let go of expectations and see where the curves lead us. Machine piecing and hand quilting will be covered. Participants will piece a small wall hanging or pillow face.
The workshop will be taught by Sylvie Rosenkalt, who has been quilting since childhood. She is an educator, disability cultural activist, and lifelong maker. Her quilting practice embraces odd shapes and asymmetry, allowing the improvisational process to guide the final product. Sylvie machine-pieces and hand-quilts, highlighting irregular beauty with her stitching. She finds joy in embracing improvisation as a quilter, trumpeter and dancer.
